Who said Sentosa is the most expensive island in Southeast Asia? Follow the following tips on how to travel to Sentosa without spending a fortune!
Eat heavy breakfast before heading to Sentosa and bring lots of water and packed lunch. It is a no-brainer that all food items sold within theme parks are expensive. Unlike most theme parks, food and beverage is allowed unless you are going to Adventure Cove Waterpark where bringing in food is strictly prohibited.
Skip paying the entrance fee. Don't worry, we will not teach you how to break-in to Sentosa. If you are travelling solo or a couple, the cheapest way to get there is by MRT to Vivo City then take the boardwalk. Just look for a wooden floor and follow where it is headed and you wont get lost. It is quite a walk however there's a travellator every few meters and a nice view of the waters. If you dont mind a bit of walking, this option is good for you. MRT will not cost more than 2sgd per head and the boardwalk will not cost a penny. This option will only cost you around 2sgd per head however, if walking is not for you, you can take the train from Vivo City but will cost 4sgd per head.
If you are a group of 3 or travelling with children, you'll be surprised that taking a taxi would be cheaper, faster and more convenient. Entrance fee is only 2sgd per taxi.
For an even cheaper option, we suggest to take Grab car or Uber and ask the driver to drop you at the parking area below Universal Studio. No entrance fee shall be collected. Costs only around 7sgd from Geylang area! Cheaper if from nearer location.
Using GOOGLE coupon code for first time Grab users, get 10sgd off your first ride so you wouldn't have to spend a dollar to get to Sentosa! Ask your colleagues to download Grab too!
Rent a bike for 2 hours for only 18sgd or 1 hour for 15sgd and bike around the island. Two hours should be more than enough. You can get it cheaper if you buy in advance.
Take a dip in the beautiful Siloso beach for free! Bring out your packed lunch and have a picnic.
You can ride the train to Vivo City for free. It is the nearest place to get affordable meals for around 6sgd. However, if you wish to go back again, you will pay another 4sgd to ride the train to get inside or take the boardwalk.
